Excess’ debut album out in August

Rising hip-hop artist and producer, Excess, has
disclosed that his debut album titled “Excess vs.
Ekisesi” will come out in August.
The Blantyre-based youthful rapper revealed this
few weeks after dropping a new single off the
album titled “Ndizingokwelelabe”. The song
features fellow Ill City rapper Ga Cypha and singer
Khezeni.
“Everything is going on very well and most of the
recording has been done, just few songs which
I’m featuring a couple of urban musicians,” he
said from Blantyre. “I’ll be putting it out in
August.”
Excess vs. Ekisesi” is an album which is very
extraordinary as it features both urban and
traditional artists.
On the urban tip, among others, the album is
expected to have renowned Afro rapper/singer
Piksy and R&B/dancehall singer Bucci while on the
folklore tip “Excess vs. Ekisesi” will have Mafumu
Matiki, Joe Gwaladi and Moses Makawa on it.
“It’s a project that brings to light two different
people inside me. Excess is all about serious
urban hip-hop music while Ekisesi is all about
maintaining my identity as a Malawian, going
deep local,” said the 20-year-old.
A producer at AGM Studios and third year student
at The Polytechnic, Excess is well known for songs
like “Kumalayina”, “Wadya Ntolilo”, “Last Wish”
and “My Africa”.
Meanwhile, the artist is expected to release his
next single titled “Akazi Amasiku Ano”, which he
features Mafumu Matiki. He however is yet to
announce the release date.
