Ndirande born Gospel music artist, Limbani Simenti has just signed a publishing deal with http://www.malawi-music.com for his latest album “Lungisani Impilo (Konzani Moyo)“. The deal which was concluded in late July 2013 will allow Gospel music lovers to buy digital copies of the album through the http://www.malawi-music.com music service.
Limbani Simenti was born on August 10, 1981 in Ndirande Township. He is the last born in his family. Limbani holds a Diploma in Theology. He started singing started with the Mount Sinai Choir while he was in Standard 3. As he was growing up, it became clear to him that gospel music was his calling.
His major break through, however, came when he went to South Africa. He joined Shammah Community Church in Cape Town, where he served both as a member of the praise team and pastor. Then he relocated to Table-view from Nyanga where he joined the City Church. It was at this church where he encountered the gifted pianist and singer Sara-Jane Grieve. “She helped me to understand the musical basics. She also introduced me to Trevor Samson, who is mostly into Jazz. And for your own information, this guy was Wambali Mkandawire’s music school classmate and friend. The greatest thing I learnt from Trevor was patience.”
While in South Africa he felt the need to minister amongst his own people so he headed back home to Malawi. “It’s always good to be speaking to the people you understand better”. He then started to focus much more on his music. Limbani feels music is a platform to speak for the voiceless about the love of God.
According to Limbani, “Lungisani Impilo” is Xhosa for “cleanse the heart”.
