According to festival coordinator Lucius Banda, the Sand Festival which is scheduled fro Mangochi from October 4 to October 6, last week welcomed self-styled Masuku’s from Mozambique and two Zimbabwean artists – Nikk and songstress Pamhidzai Tracy Mbirimi better known as Pah Chihera.
Nikk plays urban music and Pah Chihera performs Afro-Jazz and traditional music. Pah Chihera is expected to perform hits from her debut album “Runonzi Rudo” which brought her into the limelight.
“The list continues to grow and we are happy that the names of foreign artists are growing which also promises fireworks,” said Lucius.
Banda said South Africa’s Big Nuzz and Dj Flava as well as Zambia’s B1 and Organised Family will lead a team of artists from their countries at the festivals. Malawi’s flag will be raised by Zembani Band, The Black Missionaries, Piksy, Lulu and Paul Banda.
Tickets for the festival will be available this week.
