Malawi has lost one of the best hip hop artists, Martin Nkhata popularly known as Martse after sustaining burns after the house he slept in caught fire in Monkey Bay, Mangochi.
The award winning hip-hop artist was hospitalised at Mangochi District Hospital, a few days after celebrating his birthday.
He has died at Queen Elizabeth Central (QECH) where he was receiving treatment.
The death of Martse comes barely a day after the government through Presidential Advisor on youth and arts Lucius Banda promised to send the artist abroad for medical attention.
Meanwhile, musicians in the country are sending condolence messages to the bereaved family.
