Concerns have been raised regarding the non-performance of Malawian artists on Big Brother Africa with some saying the show favours some countries. Malawians who have performed at Big Brother Africa eviction shows include, ‘Two by Two” star, Tay Grin, rappers Young Kay and Lomwe, Tigris, Theo Thomson and singjay Maskal. Multichoice Malawi in July revealed that they had sent over 40 songs from various Malawian artists. Blak Jak famed for the hit ‘Wadya Iwe’, said it was sad that Malawian artists did not perform this year and hinted that this is total disrespect to Malawi. “It is an insult to Malawians. I know a couple of musicians who did real good this year and deserved to perform in South Africa including artists like Piksy, Armstrong, Gwamba, and myself,” he said. The trend follows up with complaints from Malawian artists that they also do not enjoy airplay on the popular Channel O compared to artists from South Africa and Nigeria.
