Code Sangala has had a storied journey as an artist, T.V personality and all round good guy. He co-founded Kapirintya with his brother Shadreck aka “Shadre” and released their critically acclaimed debut album “Kwathu nku Ndirande” in 2001 which spawned the hit singles “Kwathu ku Ndirande”, “Ma Kwacha” and “Naliyera”.
In 2003, Kapirintya released a Christmas album called “Taonani Mkholamo” which included hit singles; Noel and Christmas. Their third album titled “Tradistic Soul” included hit singles; Mwana Wa Opata, Sudziwa, Namoyo which was featured on the soundtrack of Action Aids movie called Moyo Wanga. This album is probably best remembered for the ever so popular Bwenzi Langa track which is a common feature in the clubs and weddings in Malawi. C.O denies the allegations of breaking off from Kapirintiya, highlighting his SOLO project as exercising his music freedom and expression.
These allegations stemmed from the announcement of his aforementioned “SOLO” project earlier in 2013 which was followed by the release of “Ndiwe” as the first single of the upcoming album to be released mid-2013. Ndiwe received heavy airplay on America’s Radio Express, who included it in their August edition of Radio Play compilation cd. The song also made airplay on BBC’s Focus on Africa which has since been phased out. The song is a celebration of finding true love.
As the release date for SOLO inches closer, C.O had some special thanks to give to the fellow artists he collaborated with on the upcoming project including Tay Grin, Don Dice, Piksy and Tapps Bandawe.
