On Monday, 2 December 2013, Malawian gospel singer Armstrong Kalua announced via social sites Twitter and Facebook that he has changed his stage name to Onesimus. Onesimus is a name of Greek origin meaning “useful”. Born Sopani Armstrong Kalua, the artist revealed that the name change was a result of a revelattion from his spiritual father, Prophet Sheperd Bushiri.
“This name was given to me by my spiritual father Prophet Sheperd Bushiri after he received a revelation from Jesus Christ. He said the son of God wants you to change your stage name to Onesimus just like Saul changed to Paul and Abram to Abraham, Jacob to Israel”, explained the singer. Onesimus is currently working on his debut Gospel album and has already released four singles from the upcoming yet untitled album.
