A young promising Malawian musician by the name Tani Posi last year realesed a song describing his own form of freedom, Money. The song was also titled “John Chilembwe” based on the notes of Malawian currency (mk500) .
Rev John Chilembwe (born 1871 – February 3, 1915) was a Baptist pastor and educator, and an early figure in resistance to colonialism in Malawi. On Janury 15th John Chilembwe is celebrated as a hero for independence, and John Chilembwe Day is observed annually.
