After winning the 2013 Sunbird Search for a Star, Adrian Kwelepeta, fondly known by his stage name Adrian, is primed to do big things in the Malawi music industry and his journey continues with the announcement that his upcoming maiden album will be titled ‘Paradise’.
The 19-year-old singer and guitarist is also set to release two singles off the 10-track album, recorded and produced in Blantyre at Audio Clinic by two of the country’s most gifted producers, Anko Layi and Marvin Hanke.
Titled ‘When you’re away’ and ‘Wandimenyera nkhondo’, the two singles are slated to be released on radio on Monday, 10th March 2014, building anticipation for the album release later in the year.
“Adrian is one amazing youngster to watch. His material is incredible, mature music that you wouldn’t believe it’s the making of someone his age. Definitely he is a blessing to our music industry,” says Kimpho Hastings Loka, talent & media consultant at Pencils PR, the agency
which is handling Adrian’s promotion campaign. The artist says: “I’ve always been ready for this. I believe music is a calling and I’m so excited that finally I can give the people what they have been waiting for. This is my “thank you” to them for the confidence they had in me during the competition, I went into the studios and now am returning that favor by giving them nothing but good music. Malawi you were right by my side during the Search for a Star, I made it all because of your support and as I now take a new step, I ask you to be right by my side.”
