Malawi’s most promising and rising female songbird KIM who is popularly known as “Kim of diamonds” recently emerged with a new song titled “Like a Queen”.
The song praises a man and contrary to many love songs, like a Queen has a very different approach in terms of the message the song is carrying.
The song has driven many interests from many people.
It’s important to show love to men who do their best to show love to their women through the sacrifices they make, the work they do, the attention they pay to their women
‘Like a Queen was inspired by men who treat their women with truth, love and respect. I feel we don’t acknowledge or appreciate those good men enough especially with the “men are trash” movement. I think it’s important to show love to men who do their best to show love to their women through the sacrifices they make, the work they do, the attention they pay to their women’ she said.
However, Kim pleaded with the society to develop a gratitude attitude towards their partners acknowledging the efforts of the person they are with instead of comparing them with someone else and wishing they could do more of anything.
The song is saying “I see all that you have done and do for me, everywhere we go you treat me like a Queen, even behind my back and I will do anything, absolutely anything for you to make you feel like the King you are as my token of love and appreciation”.
Too many of us expect loyalty and respect from our significant other but aren’t willing to give it
Again, other times we are always complaining about what they don’t do and how we wish they were more like so and so. But what would happen if we focused on the realness of the person we are with and claim to love in the fullness of who they are without trying to change them?’ she questions.
On her aspirations and ambitions KIM revealed that she is looking forward to work with one from Zathu band. ‘I really want to work with Paul from Zathu Band for my next project. I reckon he is an amazing instrumentalist and producer, and together we can make some magical, healing music. ‘Other plans include features with Zimbabwean artists, a Jamaican artist and Malawian artists I’ve been expectantly waiting to work with’ she revealed.
In the next 5 years I want my music to go global
As a singer and songwriter, I want my music to transcend limitations and language barriers, to spark journeys of self-discoveries within people, make them alive and not alone in life. And ultimately, I want my music to empower people on a global scale’ she further concluded
